The Hilltops Region is located in southern New South Wales and covers an area of 714,040 hectares (7,140 square kilometres). The large area of the region makes it difficult for visitors to see everything that is on offer across the entire art trail.

To help you plan your trip we have created "Art Trails Within the Trail" featuring exhibitions, events and attractions that are nearby each other.

Thursday Creative Cruise Around Young (short drive)

6. 16th Annual Lambing Flat Sculpture Wood & Big Art Exhibition by Young Society of Artists Inc. Young Town Hall, Boorowa Street, Young; Thursday 14 - Sunday 24 March,

Boorowa Art Cruise Expedition (drive)

1. Drawn from the Collection by Denise Scholz-Wulfing at the Boorowa Museum Print Studio, Saturdays (16th & 23rd), 10am to 3pm.

2. Muse Art Open Studio and Gallery. Experience the collaborative magic of Karen & Tess at Muse Art Gallery & Studio, 28 Marsden Street, Boorowa. Open daily from 10 am to 2 pm.

3.Birds, Bees & Me - Gift and Art Shop. A delightful art and gift shop nestled in the heart of Boorowa. Open Saturday and Sundays from 10am to 2pm.

4. Ben Perryman Visual Arts Exhibition: “To Be Perplexed"

Rural Canvas Journey: Boorowa to Young

(Saturday 16 March is the best day for this complete trail)

You could start in Boorowa with Art Trail 3 above (The Boorowa Art Cruise) and then head to Young through Murringo stopping at the events listed below (or vice versa, starting in Young and going the other way).

2. Murringo Village Art Show. (ONE DAY ONLY)
Discover what our small town has to offer. Murringo Community Hall,
Saturday 16 March from 11 am to 5 pm.

3. Taubman & Webb Trading Post & Cellar Door. (place of interest in Murringo) - Saturday and Sunday Trading.

4. Judy Barker's Sculpture Garden & Studio, (ONE WEEKEND ONLY)
978 Murringo Gap Road, Murringo. Saturday 16 March, 10am-4pm; and Sunday 17 March, 10am-4pm.

6. Craftmanship and Fine Wine at Grove Estate. Experience the sculpting of wood and metal at Grove Estate Winery and Cellar Door. Daily 10am-4pm. (Update: Grove Estate is closed from 12 noon on Saturday 16 March for a private function).

Colours of Countryside Cruise to Monteagle

2. Green Glass Studio - a collection of unique upcycled jewellery and a beautiful collection of colourful artworks; Saturday 16 March, 10am-2pm; Saturday 23 March 10am-4pm and Sunday 24 March 10am-4pm.

5. Bulla Creek Brewery: Tap Room and Artworks by Artist Megan Holt.
Saturday 16 March 2024 - art exhibition, gin tasting and lunch.
Sunday 17 March 2024 - art exhibition and lunch plus why not combine your visit to Bulla Creek Brewing with a visit to Iandra Castle Open Day.
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March - art exhibition and lunch plus optional drawing workshop.

6. Explore Monteagle Village’s Hidden Treasures
Take the road less travelled through the northern Hilltops Region, starting in Young and passing through Monteagle. Visit the breathtaking Tout's Lookout. The village is also close to historic Iandra Castle, making it a must-visit destination. The Rustic Maze not far from Bulla Creek Brewery is an amazing country style function venue.

Art Trail 6

Art and Cultural Loop on Saturday 23 March - Young, Wombat, Harden, Jugiong

(Start at Young and head to Jugiong or start at Jugiong and head Young)

1. Ballinaclash Packing Box Autumn Art Exhibition and Fundraiser, Ballinaclash Cellar Door Art Exhibition and Sale of Artworks: Friday 15th - Sunday 17th March and Friday 22nd - Sunday 24 March.  Join the community movement to support the continuation of Hilltops Off The Beaten Track in 2025. 

2. Mosaic House Number Workshop & Art Display at Wombat Cottage Cafe. Cost $85 (includes a delicious lunch); Friday 15th March at 10.30am; Cafe & Gallery Open every Wednesday - Sunday, 8am - 4pm. (Plus newly added book signing and chat with author of Second Chance Diana Thurgood on Sunday 24th).

3. Made in Wombat: Rustic, handmade and authentic! Wine, Pottery, Woodwork, Art and Souvenirs. 93 Wombat Road, Wombat Village. Saturday 10:30am - 2:30pm and Sunday 10:30am - 2:30pm.

4. Harden Murrumburrah Artists Talks & Morning Tea. (ONE DAY ONLY)
Harden Murrumburrah Arts Council, Cnr Albury & Vernon Streets, Murrumburrah, Saturday 23 March 2024, 10am - 12pm

5. ‘Stop and See’ the Highlights During this particular Art Trail

Experience the beauty of Harden Murrumburrah. Explore the recently redeveloped Murrimboola Creek, pay tribute to a heroic horse with the life-sized sculpture of 'Bill the Bastard', and admire the amazing Silo Art in Harden.

In Jugiong, enjoy a riverside walk along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, or engage in a canoe or kayak trail, explore the Long Track Pantry, Jugiong Wine Cellar and dine at the Sir George.

Be sure to enjoy the scenic drive through this picturesque countryside and stop along the way for more artistic and scenic delights.
