Are you captivated by Edwardian fashion or fascinated by the wool industry? The Boorowa Museum offers a delightful journey through time, with something to spark curiosity in everyone.
Housed in the historic George Patterson Store, a rare pise (rammed earth) building dating back to 1882, the Museum is steeped in history itself. Over the years, this iconic building has served various roles, including as an undertaking business, adding a touch of intrigue to its story.
Inside, discover the elegance of yesteryear with the Hume Costume Collection, a stunning display of Edwardian gowns and accessories once worn by the Hume family, relatives of explorer Hamilton Hume. But that’s just the beginning. The Museum’s ever-evolving exhibits currently include:
Well-Known Residents: Celebrating remarkable locals and their achievements.
Windows on Wool: A tribute to Boorowa’s rich wool industry.
Railways Memorabilia: Exploring the impact of trains on the region.
Local Ambulance Memorabilia: Honoring healthcare history.
Soon, visitors can also enjoy a Print Room featuring the original printing press from the Boorowa News newspaper.
Located right on Boorowa’s main street, the Museum is perfectly positioned for an easy day out. With free parking, nearby cafes, and shops, it’s a great starting point to explore the town. Don’t forget to follow the Shamrock Trails to admire other historic buildings along the way.
History awaits at the Boorowa Museum – come see what makes this gem a must-visit!
