About the Artist
Judy Barker's Sculpture Garden is open for viewing a range of sculptures from quirky characters made of found metal objects to larger abstract works and soft stone carved pieces. Judy's home studio will also be open and displaying smaller sculptures and 2D artworks in a range of media including acrylic paintings, linocut and monotype prints and mixed media works.
Judy is an artist and sculptor who enjoys working with a range of media to produce work that hopefully produces a response in the viewer whether it be amusement, intrigue or an appreciation of natural beauty. Judy finds inspiration almost anywhere but particularly in nature.
“I love carving sculptures in soapstone, limestone and Hebel and putting together quirky sculptures from found objects that end up having personalities all their own. I think every house and garden no matter how big or small should have a sculpture to add interest or to be a focal point or just for fun.
I enjoy making 2D pieces in a range of mediums from acrylic, pen and pastels to mixed media print making. In painting landscapes, I think capturing light and the feel of a subject is my main aim. I also enjoy making more abstract 2 and 3D artworks across a range of mediums.
My local Young Society of Artists is very supportive and progressive and provides workshops to inspire and organizes exhibitions to show local artists’ work. I take part in the Hilltops Off the Beaten Track Art and Cultural Trail each year because it is a great way to promote local artist and their creative work in the Hilltops region".
